ALCOHOL
.08% Blood Alcohol Content is the NY State Limit
Note: Alcohol is involved in 30% of boating fatalities
.02% is the Blood Alcohol Content Limit for operators under age 21 (under Zero Tolerance Boating Bill passed in August 1998).
SAFETY AND COURTESY RULES
SPEED
Speed should be regulated when in congested areas, and particularly near swimmers and divers
WAKE
Please mind your wake unless you are in a very open area, away from boathouses, and away from other boats particularly near sailboats (under sail) and skiffsNOISE
Please be respectful in congested areas (Town docks, marinas) and particularly at night. Noise travels over the water.
ENFORCEMENT
/REPORTING VIOLATIONS
The New York State Police and New York State Park Police patrol regularly, and are responsible for enforcement of all New York State Laws and Regulations.The US Coast Guard is primarily responsible for Search and Rescue and Federal Regulations, such as oil spills and shipping issues, but will intercede for reckless operation.
